Nothing tall enough to interrupt the horizon

With a view like this, restraint becomes the design problem. Every element in Fifth — seating height, railing lines, lighting fixtures — was checked against a single question: does it interrupt the sightline to the water? Specification carried as much of the brief as the layout did.

The approach

We treated the sea view as the primary material of the project. Indoor and outdoor seating were planned to keep the horizon visible from as many covers as possible, with the bar and back-of-house pushed to the edges of the plan rather than the centre.

Scope

Terra led design and project management on Fifth from concept through to handover.
